History of the group |
The Beginnings
The artistic group "Resovia Saltans" came into being as an Academic Song & Dance Group under the auspices of High Pedagogical School (WSP) in Rzeszów in 1975. The initiative for forming the group has arisen in November when Olgierd Pietrek, together with Jerzy Czarnosza, decided to form a folklore group from the scratch. The author of the name of the group, which in latin means 'dancing Rzeszów' - was the Dean and Rector of WSP prof. Stefan Reczek, holder of a postdoctoral degree. Bożena Niżańska, a choreographer, became the first artistic director.

Polish-German Association in Hamburg
At this time Resovia Saltans has secured its popularity in many countries of the world. One of the most lasting contacts /1980/ is many years' partnership with Polish-German Association in Hamburg. To this day Resovia maintains good relationships with Gerd Hoffman, a manager of this oldest German association. Asked why having such resources and possibilities he never invited Mazowsze group, he said: "...Why do I need Mazowsze!? 'Resovia Saltans' is my Mazowsze". |
Today
For over a dozen years a personnel of the group is managed by Romulad Kalinowski, the leader and soloist of the group, since its conception an assistant to Mrs. Niżańska, a director and choreographer of many world's festivals and the author of choreographic works for many groups. He is also a founder and manager /1989/ of the first in the city's and academy's history Department of Polish Dances, in which dancers from all over the world are being trained.
As a result of expansion of the group and the department, Romuald Kalinowski, developed and restructurized the unit by hiring his best pupils for working for the group - Witold Kopa, and Barbara Jarosz. Stanisław Wojtowicz, remained the organizational manager of the group.
Moreover, the courses in dancing technique and style were conducted by instructors Ewa Chmielarska and Barbara Grabowska. Presently, Paweł Paluch, a distinguished musician and a professor in UJ and AP in Kraków, is the musical supervisor.
Many years of consistent work with continual selection for the personnel of the group, the programme and the recruitment process bore a substantial result that now, as the only university in the country we have a didactive unit appointed by the Senate of the University of Rzeszów in co-operation and understanding with the Ministry of Sport and Education under the name of Department of Culture and Education "Resovia Saltans".
